1st Virtual Greek-German Alternative Tourism & Gastronomy Workshop – Germany

23/03/2021 The works of the 1st Virtual Workshop of Alternative Tourism and Gastronomy in the German market, organized by Tourism Media & Events, were completed on Friday, March 19. The event was crowned with success – in the light of the conditions of covid 19 – as hundreds of business meetings took place between Greek tourism companies and destinations, Greek F&B export companies, and German specialists of the respective sectors.

The interest in Greek tourism is extremely positive for the touristic year of 2021, as illustrated by the high participation. The German agents paid special attention to new tourist destinations, creating a hopeful vibe for a touristic 2022.

The majority of them recorded the great potential that our country has in the field of thematic tourism with a focus on walking, climbing and sports tourism. 16/03/2021 The Virtual Greek Tourism & Gastronomy Workshops 2021 events start tomorrow, March 17, with the German market. The Greek Alternative Tourism & Gastronomy Workshop 2021 is held for the first time, aiming to promote all the alternative types of tourism Greece offers to the promising German market.

The event lasts for two days with the holding of hundreds of B2B pre-arranged virtual meetings, and is part of a course of successful online events for alternative tourism and gastronomy which began in 2020, in the Belgian and Polish markets.

The event is taking place under the auspices of the Ministry of Tourism, the Ministry of Rural Development & Food, the Intercultural Group for UNESCO, the Greek Embassy in Germany, the Hellenic-German Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and the Hellenic-German Chamber of Commerce.

The ongoing pandemic of covid-19  and its effects on both the tourism and gastronomy sectors, make it necessary to adapt to the new reality and create positive conditions for Greek tourism in the aftermath of the pandemic. Therefore, the events for 2021 will be held online through a specially designed, professional, digital platform.

637 B2B Meetings at the Virtual Greek-Belgium Alternative Tourism & Gastronomy Workshop

With the holding of 637 business meetings, the Virtual Workshop of Alternative Tourism and Gastronomy in Belgium was completed on November 27, by Tourism Media & Events. The event was about unique B2B meetings, both between Belgian tour operators and travel agents with Greek tourism businesses and destinations, as well as Belgian food importers with Greek food export companies.

The interest for the touristic season of 2021, as illustrated by the participations and appointments, was extremely high. As noted by the Belgian travel agents, Greece – despite the pandemic – remains high in the preferences of their compatriots, emphasizing the successful management of the pandemic by our country. That was indicative of the particularly high attendance in the B2B program compared to other past live events -workshops for Greece and other countries. The interest of dozens of Belgian retailers and importers remains high, as more and more wish to get in touch with Greek companies in the food and beverage industry, which arise as potential ambassadors of Greek tourism via gastronomy.

In particular, on the Belgian part, 79 travel agents, 25 distinguished media and 21 importers of Greek products participated. On the Greek side, 18 tourist destinations and businesses and 22 companies in the food and beverage industry participated.

George Dalaras gave a concert in Moscow and went viral (vid)

More than 1,500 spectators attended George Dalaras’ concert in Moscow, including hundreds of Russian and Greek tourism officials, executives, directors and owners of travel agencies and organisations, numerous foreign ambassadors, Russian government and government officials, and Russian officials.

The concert for Greece – in the Synod Hall of the Moscow Cathedral, next to the Kremlin, was organised by the Ministry of Tourism of Greece and GNTO; it was the solemn celebration of the Year of Tourism Greece-Russia.

Russian media and social networks were “flooded” with references to the concert, Greek culture and Greek-Russian friendship, at the ideal time, shortly before the start of the tourist season. There were more than 70 reports in the Russian press. The music figures of the Russian capital continues to discuss the unique and now historic concert of the leading Greek singer.

The event, on the occasion of Greek tourism, turned into a “top cultural event, a legacy of similar concerts sought by the Russian public,” according to a statement from Mr. Pavel Ofsyanikov, Russia’s top conductor for many years. The Kremlin Symphony Orchestra, which has repeatedly collaborated with G. Dalaras in the past.

The praise for the top event of the Greek-Russian tourism year was numerous on Russian media and social networks. Among them, the opinion of the greatest Russian music critic Mr. Vadim Ponomariov, who praised the professionalism and the “improvisation fountain” of Greek musicians, who turned the audience of the hall into a choir. She described the concert as “the appearance of a great metro, a high art act”, expressing hope that new collaborations between G. Dalaras and her symphony orchestras would soon emerge in Russia, as well as more concerts by Greek performers in front of the Russian public, thirsty for Greek music.

Among the guests, who finally got up and started dancing in front of the stage and around the theater square, a fact unprecedented for the musical history of the Russian capital, were also Russian government officials, governors, representatives of the Greek Church and Foreign Ministry correspondents, while the event was welcomed by the Minister of Tourism Mrs. Elena Kountoura and the Ambassador of Greece to Moscow Mr. Andreas Phryganas.

1st Greek Alternative Tourism Workshop – Poland

AVIAREPS, in a strategic partnership with Tourism Media & Events, is organising the 1st Greek Alternative Tourism Workshop in Warsaw, Poland on October 29, 2019. The Workshop will take place at the emblematic FortecaKregliccy – Fortress of the Legions.

With an aim to highlight the full range of Alternative Tourism Forms in Greece, the 1st Greek Alternative Tourism Workshop Warsaw 2019 follows the state plans for:

  • All year round tourism
  • Development of alternative forms of tourism
  • Support for destinations with sustainable development
  • Connection of the sector with the agri-food sector

The 1st Greek Alternative Tourism Workshop in Warsaw, Poland, takes place in collaboration with the Hellenic Tourism Organization (GNTO), under the auspices of the Ministry of Tourism, the Greek Embassy in Poland, the Hellenic-Polish Chamber of Commerce and Investment and the Hellenic Cultural and Educational Group for UNESCO.

During the 1st Greek Alternative Tourism Workshop Warsaw 2019, B2B meetings will be held for 3-4 hours.

A specialized PR company has selected and invited tourist organizations and travel agencies that deal specifically with alternative forms of tourism, Polish market distributors and representatives of Polish Media.

The screens will be showing the GNTO spots of the participating Regions in a loop. Coffee and snacks will also be offered.

There will be dinneroffered at FortecaKregliccy and on a specially designed podium, there will be presentations of the Greek destinations and the alternative tourism activities they offere.

The Polish market

The choice of the Polish market as the second step in the promotion of Greece in foreign markets is not accidental.

The specific dynamics of the country in terms of interest of the Polish people for the alternative Greek tourist product was taken into account along with the expressed desire of a significant number of Greek companies to penetrate this market.

Now the Polish market is among the top markets for tourists visiting Greece and the Poles are looking for a complete experience of travel, authenticity, connection with nature and action.

Outdoor activities at sea, mountains and rivers, culture, gastronomy, wine tourism, spa and wellness, seaside resorts, small facilities and family-friendly accommodation are on the top of the Polish travel list.

Polish tourists are known to be lovers of alternative tourism, especially winter sports. They travel all year round, with their average annual income exceeding ours.

Greece is ranked first in the travel preferences of Poles in 2019, following a large increase of 40% in the arrivals of Polish tourists in our country in 2018.

Last year, Polish visitors in our country exceeded 1 million for the first time and reached 1.049.500.
