Greek Tourism Makes Inroads into India

With a strong footprint in the Indian tourism market, the “Greek Luxury Tourism Workshop” concluded in Mumbai on Wednesday, February 4, bringing together 117 leading Indian travel agents and tour operators and further confirming the strong interest in Greece as a destination for luxury and authentic experiences.

 

 

It is noted that the event, organized by Tourism Media & Events, was held with the support of the Greek Ministry of Tourism, highlighting the strengthening of Greece’s presence in the rapidly growing Indian market.

At the heart of the event was the enhancement of tourism ties between Greece and India, with the workshop acting as a bridge for professional networking between leading Greek tourism companies and destinations and Indian travel agents and tour operators, boosting prospects for new collaborations and further attracting visitors to our country.

During the discussions, the issue of the visa issuance process was also highlighted, as it continues to raise questions among Indian professionals. It was emphasized that the simplification and acceleration of the relevant procedures could be a decisive factor in increasing travel flows to Greece.

Following the completion of the B2B meetings, presentations were delivered by the Region of Crete by the Head of the Tourism Directorate, Mr. Nikolaos Alexakis, the Region of Peloponnese by its representative, Ms. Paraskevi Gialou, and the Heraklion Chamber of Commerce by the Head of the Business Support Office, Ms. Lena Stefanoudaki.

Showcasing Greek Tourism Internationally at the Greek Tourism Workshop in Vienna

Greece’s strong momentum in the Austrian market was confirmed by the Greek Tourism Workshop held at a hotel in the heart of Vienna on Monday, December 15, bringing together 51 leading Austrian travel agents and tour operators, as well as four media outlets.

The event, organized by Tourism Media & Events, aimed primarily at further strengthening the international outreach of Greek tourism and at creating meaningful partnerships with one of the most stable and high-performing markets for Greece.

The event was held under the auspices of the Greek Ministry of Tourism, the Greek Ministry of Rural Development and Food, and the Embassy of Greece in Vienna.

The core focus of the Greek Tourism Workshop was the one-to-one business (B2B) meetings, during which Greek destinations and tourism enterprises had the opportunity to present targeted proposals to Austrian travel agents and tour operators.

The event was honored by the presence and welcoming addresses of Mr. Georgios Lyberis, Secretary of the Office of Economic and Commercial Affairs of the Embassy of Greece in Vienna, and Ms. Stavroula Skaltsi, Director of the Greek National Tourism Organization (GNTO) Vienna Office, highlighting the steadily increasing demand for Greece in the Austrian market.

Canada embraces Greek tourism

With the participation of leading travel agents and tour operators from the Ontario and Quebec markets, the two-day event  “Connecting Greece & Canada, Tourism Roadshow” concluded successfully in Toronto, on 10 November, and in Montreal, on 12 November 2025.

This flagship Tourism Media & Events initiative, focused on luxury tourism, was held under the auspices of the Ministry of Tourism, the Ministry of Rural Development and Food, and the Embassy of Greece in Ottawa, and was organized with the support of the Greek National Tourism Organization (GNTO).

Canada is gaining increasing importance for the Greek tourism market, as it constitutes a strategic point of contact for promoting Greek luxury tourism and attracting high-income travellers.

During the two events, targeted B2B meetings were held with Canadian travel agents and tour operators specializing in luxury tourism, as well as Canadian media representatives, with the aim of showcasing the Greek tourism product and fostering new commercial partnerships.

The events were officially welcomed by the Consul General of Greece in Toronto, Mr. Ioannis Hatzantoniakis, and the Consul General of Greece in Montreal, Mr. Nikolaos Karalekas. The “Connecting Greece & Canada, Tourism Roadshow” was also honored by the presence of Member of Parliament and Parliamentary Secretary to the Canadian Minister of Labour and Seniors, Ms. Annie Koutrakis, Economic and Commercial Counsellor Mr. Emmanouil Markianos, and Cultural Counsellor of the Consulate in Toronto, Dr. Marilena Griva.

Representing the Greek National Tourism Organization, Mr. Konstantinos Charokopos, Head of the GNTO Office for North America, attended the Roadshow.

At both events, following the professional meetings, presentations were delivered by Ms. Paraskevi Gialou on behalf of the Region of Peloponnese; by Ms. Argyro Papaioannou, executive of the Tourism Directorate – Tourism Promotion Department, on behalf of the Region of Central Macedonia; and by Ms. Eleni Vougioukalaki, Head of the Tourism Department of the Heraklion Regional Unit, on behalf of the Region of Crete.


Greece at the Forefront of the Dutch Tourism Market

The strong interest of the Dutch tourism market in Greece as a destination of experiences, culture, and authenticity was confirmed during the Greek Tourism Workshop, held at the Van der Valk Den Haag – Nootdorp Hotel in The Hague on Thursday, October 30.

The event was held under the auspices of the Ministry of Tourism, the Ministry of Rural Development and Food, and the Embassy of Greece in The Hague. It was another initiative by Tourism Media & Events aimed at enhancing Greek tourism’s external engagement and developing strategic partnerships with leading representatives of the Dutch tourism sector.

The first part of the event included private B2B meetings between Greek destinations and tourism enterprises and 47 top Dutch travel agents and tour operators, as well as 6 Dutch media representatives. The meetings focused on creating new collaborations, broadening the tourism product, and strengthening the seasonal dispersion of arrivals to Greece.

Following the business meetings, presentations by Greek regions and bodies emphasized the uniqueness and differentiation of Greek destinations. Opening remarks were made by Mr. Apostolos Michalopoulos, Head of the Economic & Commercial Affairs Office at the Greek Embassy in The Hague, who highlighted the strong bilateral relations between Greece and the Netherlands and pointed to emerging opportunities for further enhancing cooperation between the two countries in tourism.

Greece’s dynamic presence in the Danish tourism market was highlighted at the “Greek Tourism Workshop” held on Thursday in Copenhagen, with the participation of 46 Danish travel agents and tour operators, as well as select media representatives, confirming their growing interest in Greece.

This is one of the flagship events of Tourism Media & Events, which provided networking and promotional opportunities for Greek tourism businesses and destinations, helping strategically strengthen Greece’s position in the markets of Denmark and southern Sweden.

Greece at the Center of British Tourists’ Interest

The strong interest of the British public in Greece was reflected in the impressive participation of top travel agents and tour operators at the “Greek Tourism Workshop,” which took place in Manchester on Monday, April 28.

The event aimed to cover the market of Central and Northern Great Britain — regions with significant potential for strengthening the tourism flow toward our country.

The British market, a traditionally strong ally of Greek tourism, is emerging as a leading driver of growth for the Greek tourism industry. The year 2025 is expected to be highly promising, with an impressive increase in bookings from the United Kingdom, further boosting optimism for the upcoming tourism season.

It is noted that the “Greek Tourism Workshop” in Manchester was held under the auspices of the Ministry of Tourism, the Ministry of Rural Development and Food, the Embassy of Greece in London, and the Consulate General of Greece in Manchester.

Greece takes center stage in Wrocław, Poland

 

With the participation of top travel agents and tour operators from the Polish market, the Greek Tourism Workshop concluded successfully on Thursday, April 3rd, in Wrocław, Poland. The event, organized by Tourism Media & Events, was one of the key promotional initiatives for Greek tourism in 2025.

 

Held at “Piwnica Świdnicka,” the oldest restaurant in Europe, located in the heart of Wrocław’s main square, the event was conducted under the auspices of the Ministry of Tourism, the Ministry of Rural Development and Food, and the Embassy of Greece in Warsaw.

The workshop opened with a series of B2B meetings, connecting Greek destinations and tourism enterprises with local travel professionals. These sessions highlighted the strong interest of the Polish market in Greece as a preferred travel destination.

Following the networking meetings, a series of presentations showcased featured Greek regions. Ms. Marianna Liaskou, Head of the Tourism Department of the Region of Central Greece, introduced the region as the event’s guest of honor. Additional presentations were delivered by Ms. Patty Konstantinidou from the Tourism Promotion Team of the Region of Eastern Macedonia and Thrace, Ms. Aikaterini Kollia, Head of Tourism Promotion for the Region of Central Macedonia, and Mr. Kyriakos Kotsoglou, Vice Governor for Tourism of the Region of Crete. The session concluded with an address by Mr. Krzysztof Kołodziej, Country Manager for Poland at SKY express.

The “Greek Tourism Workshops” organized by Tourism Media & Events (TME) are expanding their presence in strategic target markets for Greek tourism.

The newly appointed Consul General of Greece in Frankfurt, Mr. Dimitrios Dochtsis, addressed the event, highlighting the strong and promising relationship between Greece and Germany.

Also honoring the event with her presence was Ms. Nicoletta Lekanidi, Director of the Greek National Tourism Organization (GNTO) in Germany, based in Frankfurt.

 

During the workshop—held in one of the most promising tourism markets for Greece—hundreds of professional B2B meetings were conducted between leading Greek tourism businesses and destinations and key travel agencies and professionals from the German market. The goal of these meetings was to foster networking opportunities and build strategic partnerships aimed at promoting the Greek tourism product.
