Why i love Greece, Album

“Why I Love Greece” is a 254 pages book/album, created by fifteen foreign media correspondents who fell in love with Greece and wrote about its beauty.

Entitled “Why I Love Greece”, a unique 254-page album was released, written by fifteen correspondents from major media outlets living and working in Greece for years, each one choosing an area of ​​our country they loved the most.

The texts are framed by rich photographic material, both from the favorite areas of the correspondents and important international personalities who visited Greece from time to time.

The album was presented at a special event, held on Monday, February the 4th, at a central hotel in Athens, with  Deputy Foreign Minister Mr. Petros Doukas as the official speaker and the participation of writers/correspondents, mayors and their representatives from all 15 regions, as well as and representatives of the Ministry of Tourism Development and tourism agencies of the country.

Mr Doukas described the album as a “valuable tool for promoting Greek tourism”, quoting author Henry Miller as saying that “the easiest thing in the world is to fall in love with Greece”.

The Undersecretary of State said that “Greek tourism will take off when we manage to highlight our ancient culture and the decisive contribution of the ancient spirit to modern Western culture, so that foreigners come here to be taught”.

The correspondents who write in the album, are Kerin Hope (writes about Kardamyli of Messinian Mani), Adriana Flores-Borquez (writes about Chania), John Carr (writes about Epirus), Paul Anastazi (writes about Rhodes), Ayse Ferliel (writes about Kefalonia), Malcolm Brabant (writes about Santorini), Patrick Quinn (writes about Skyros), Didier Kunz (writes about Folegandros), Brian Williams (writes about Andros), John Rigos (writes about Tinos), Nikos Michalian (writes about Mykonos), Furio Morroni (writes about Leros), Yuri Malinov (writes about Evoia), Nigel Lowry (writes about Piraeus), Gillian Whittaker (writes about various parts of Greece).

It is noted that the album is supplemented by photos of international personalities from the file of photojournalist Telis Sarrikostas, who for many years was a photojournalist for the Associated Press and has recorded all the celebrities who visited our country.

Among the photos included in the album, the reader will see the Beatles in 1967 in Arachova, Melina Mercouri with Indira Gandhi in 1983 in Epidavros, Frank Sinatra with his wife in a tavern in Athens, John Wayne 1971 at a nightclub in the capital, Pelé, Arnold Schwarzenegger in front of the Acropolis, Vladimir Putin, Jane Fonda with her husband on the Acropolis, Marlon Brando, Hillary Clinton and dozens more.

As part of the event, the mayors or representatives of the destinations for which the correspondents write, honored the authors with souvenirs and thanked them for promoting their area.

Press Trip in Karystos, Greece 2020

A Press Fam Trip with representatives from the media from all over Greece was carried out by the municipality of Karystos in collaboration with Tourism Media & Events.

The aim was to strengthen the tourist promotion of the area and to stimulate the local market during the critical summer period 2020.

The Municipality of Karystos opened its gates to media representatives of nationwide scope in an effort to promote the tourist destination and stimulate the local economy.

From Friday 12 June until Sunday 14 June, the Municipality of Karystos hosted journalists from “Kathimerini”, “Naftemporiki”, “Elefthero Typo”, “Phileleftheros”, “Proto Thema”, “Real” News”, “Athinorama”,“Athens Voice”, www.tourismtoday.gr, www.liberal.gr, www.capital.gr, www.in.gr, www.tanea.gr, www.news247.gr and from the television and the Radio Station “ALPHA”.

The invited journalists toured the sights of the area, the highlight of which was the visit to the Dragon House and the descent to Dimosari, while also enjoying the famous beaches of Karystos and the local gastronomy.

As part of the acquaintance trip, the first meeting for the development of a Trail Network took place at the Montofoli Estate, in the presence of invited journalists, as well as institutions and representatives of tourism.

The initiative of the Municipality of Karystos to organise, along with Tourism Media & Events the first acquaintance trip was well received by the participants and is actually part of a comprehensive action plan for the promotion and tourism development of the Municipality of Karystos.

The main goal was through this short stay, to bring the journalists in touch with the natural wealth and beauties of Karystos as well as to allow them to taste the quality local products; but mainly to feel, from Marmari and Karystos to Styra and Kafireas, the high level of hospitality of the locals.

With this action, the Municipality of Karystos seeks and expects that this unique experience lived by the media representatives will be transfered to the pages -electronic and printed-, on the radio, but also in the images of the television stations, so that its unique tourist identity can travel around Greece and make its competitive advantages widely known.

The Municipality of Karystos responds with a high sense of responsibility and strategy to the increased needs of the local economy, especially in this difficult period of the economic crisis that the pandemic of COVID-19 brings as a consequence.

In collaboration with professionals from the sectors of of tourism, trade, agricultural production and above all its citizens, the Municipality of Karystos faces with a plan, realism and optimism the new challenges that lay ahead.

And invites all summer travelers to safely “COME OVER”.

Giorgos Ntalaras festival, Moscow 2018

Shortly before the start of the summer season 2018 when 1 million Russians flood the unique destinations of Greece, the famous singer George Dalaras, excited 1,600 Muscovites who attended the historic concert in the Synod Hall of the Moscow Cathedral, next to the Kremlin, on March 13.

The big celebration of Greek-Russian friendship was organized by the Ministry of Tourism and GNTO in the framework of the Moscow International Tourism Exhibition MITT 2018 and was the inaugural artistic event of the Year of Tourism Greece-Russia.

The Year of Tourism Greece-Russia is an initiative of the Minister of Tourism, Mrs. Elena Kountoura, who, in collaboration with the Russian counterpart Mrs. Alla Manilova, proceeded to the restoration of the historical relations of the two peoples through tourism and also the general recovery of the tourist flow from Russia, which had been hit by the Ukrainian crisis and the European embargo on Russia.

Accompanied by a multi-member orchestra and a total of 17 performers, George Dalaras advertised Greek music in the best way possible and excited the audience. It is characteristic that by the end of the concert the audience was dancing in front of the stage and around the square, a rare occurrence for similar concerts in Russia.

Among the guests were hundreds of Russian and Greek tourism agents, executives, directors and owners of travel agencies and companies specialising in tourism to Greece, numerous foreign ambassadors, Russian citizens and expatriates, who are also Greek nationals and the best ambassadors of the country.

Mr. Pavel Ofsyanikov, Russia’s top conductor and head of the Kremlin’s Symphony Orchestra for many years, praised Tourism Minister Mrs. Elena Kountoura for her initiative to introduce Greek music to the Russian public, as the event highlighted. “A top cultural event, a legacy for similar concerts”, he proclaimed.

 

The reaction of the popular Russian music critic Mr. Vadim Ponomariov through social media was similar; he praised not only the professionalism and the “improvised fountain” of Greek musicians, who turned the audience into a choir, but also described the concert as “the emergence of a great meter, an act of high art”, expressing the hope that new Greek concerts will soon emerge in Russia.

1st Greek Alternative Tourism Workshop Warsaw 2019

With the participation of 97 Polish tourist agents and tour operators and 12 journalists, the 1st Greek Alternative Tourism Workshop Warsaw 2019 was organised by Tourism Media & Events in collaboration with the Hellenic Tourism Organisation, under the auspices of the Ministry of Tourism, Greek Embassy in Poland, the Hellenic-Polish Chamber of Commerce and Investment, as well as the Hellenic Cultural and Educational Group for UNESCO.

The event took place in Warsaw’s iconic Forteca Kregliccy on October 29, 2019, with the participation of 18 leading companies, organisations and destinations which have activities in the field of alternative tourism in Greece.

during the 1st Greek Alternative Tourism Workshop Warsaw 2019, the Greek Ambassador to Warsaw, Mr. Michalis Daratzikis, addressed the crowd with a speech, while the B2B meetings were initiated by the GNTO Director in Poland and the Czech Republic, Mrs Nikoleta Nikolopoulou.

The Greek ambassador, among other things, underlined the strong ties between the two countries.

At the same time, Mr. Daratzikis welcomed the increase of tourist flow from Poland to Greece, adding that tens of thousands of Greeks are now visiting Poland for tourism as well.

The director of GNTO noted that Greece is a good choice for holidays all year round, since in addition to the good climate and unparalleled beauty, with possibilities of dozens of alternative activities, the country stands out for its unique gastronomy as well.

Greek destinations such as Volos and Halkidiki as well as Aegean Airlines had their own presentations during the event.

As captured in the 1st Greek Alternative Tourism Workshop Warsaw 2019, Greece is one of the world’s paradises of alternative Tourism with high quality Geoparks, ski resorts, hundreds of international hiking routes, dozens of rivers and streams.

At the same time, Greece has various diving tourism units, perhaps the world’s top climbing tracks and top Golf Courses, with Costa Navarino in the Peloponnese.

Now, Greece is developing wine tourism, as well as gastronomy, with unique routes that are easily accessible; routes which stimulate the feeling of authentic experience that the tourist is looking for 365 days a year, elements that were strongly highlighted during the event.

1st Greek Alternative Tourism Workshop Hague 2019

Greece’s alternative tourism is promoted in the Netherlands. On April 16, 2019, Hague hosts for the first time the alternative side of Greece, at the Workshop “Greek Alternative Tourism 2019” in the emblematic space of Madurodam.

The way has been opened for the faster development of alternative tourism in Greece. The completion of the recent 1st Greek Alternative Tourism Workshop 2019, held on April 16 at the Dutch administrative center, Hague, marks and contributes to the beginning of a new era for the Greek tourism, aimed at extending the country’s tourist season but also promoting its alternative tourism product.

The 1st Greek Alternative Tourism Workshop Hague 2019 took place in the emblematic Madurodam.

Greek businessmen promoting alternative tourism have joined forces with public institutions to effectively promote Greece as an ideal tourist destination all year round to Dutch tourism professionals from Hague, Amsterdam and Rotterdam.

In particular, the B2B event, where B2B meetings were held, was attended by 93 travel agents and tour operators, as well as 19 Dutch journalists and bloggers who focus on alternative tourism. From the Greek side, their services presented the Regions of Peloponnese, Western Greece and Crete, the municipalities of Rethymno and Chios, the Tourism Organization of Halkidiki, and among others, Aegean Airlines, Celestyal Cruises, Costa Navarino, Creta Maris, or AXIA Hospitality, Aldemar Group’s Abeliona Retreat, Trekking Hellas, The Ranch, Bike Friendly Hotel, etc.

The Ambassador of Greece to the Netherlands, Mr. Dimitris Chronopoulos, addressed the event, pointing out the dynamic of Greece as a tourist destination, mentioning the prospects that are opening up in regards to the relations between the two countries in this area as well. Afterwards, the head of the EOT office Benelux Mrs. Eleni Skarveli analysed the aspects of the country’s alternative product, emphasising the possibilities for holidays in Greece 365 days/year.

The event was completed with a lottery for 27 prizes to the Dutch Travel Agents, Tour Operators and journalists.

It is noted that the B2B meetings was preceded by a tasting of Greek wines by Dutch journalists, while on the sidelines of the event a tasting of olive oil was held. It is worth noting that the 1st Greek Alternative Tourism Workshop Hague 2019 was organised by AVIAREPS in collaboration with Tourism Media & Events, under the auspices of the Ministry of Tourism and the Hellenic-Dutch Chamber of Commerce and Industry (HeDA) and with the support of the Hellenic Tourism Organisation (GNTO), while the Peloponnese Region the honorary Region of the event.

From 2nd to 5th December 2018, the 2nd International Exhibition MedTravel Expo on Medical Services, Health Services, Health Improvement and Treatments was held in Moscow, focusing on medical tourism, as part of the Russian Health Care Week.

Combining large trade fairs and supporting events dedicated to all areas of healthcare, Healthcare Week creates an effective display platform for networking for government officials, entrepreneurs, healthcare professionals and scientists.

The week brings together major international trade fairs such as Zdravookhraneniye 2018, Healthy Lifestyle 2018 and MedTravelExpo 2018.

The 2nd MedTravel Expo 2018 was held at the Expocentre in Moscow.

The exhibition and conference, one of the largest in Russia, was organised by the State Duma of the Russian Federal Assembly, the Russian Ministry of Health and Expocentre AO, and was supported by the Federal Council of the Russian Federal Ministry of Trade and Industry, the Russian Academy of Sciences and the World Health Organisation.

The Forum operates under the auspice of the Russian Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

For more than three decades, this event remaines the main event in the field of healthcare for specialists from Russia, Belarus and foreign countries.

Participation in the exhibition is an important part of the development process of any business, paying close attention to personal communication.

In this context, Greece participated for the promotion of the country as an excellent medical destination, with B2B meetings/wokshops and presentation of the medical centers and services it offers, entitled “Hippocrates invites you”.

3rd MedTravel Expo 2019

From 2nd to 5th December 2019, the 3rd International Exhibition MedTravel Expo on Medical Services, Wellness Services, Health Improvement and Treatments was held in Moscow, as part of the Russian Health Care Week.

  • The week is the largest series of healthcare and medical events in Russia and the Commonwealth of Independent States, uniting major international trade fairs such as Zdravookhraneniye 2018, Healthy Lifestyle 2018 and MedTravelExpo 2018.

The Med Travel Expo is an exhibition on medical and healthcare services and healthcare technologies in Russia and abroad. The trade fair aims to showcase the opportunities and achievements of spa facilities and medical clinics.

This powerful platform for the development of medical and health-related services aims to bring together industry experts, cross-sectoral cooperation, advanced training of doctors and exchange of experiences.

The various medical tourism options in Greece, thermal springs and wellness facilities were presented during the Hellenic Health Tourism Forum, during the Med Travel Expo.

The Med Travel Expo hosted more than 140 companies and organisations from 19 countries from all over the world, while the Russian Health Week included more than 1.000 exhibitors from 37 countries. The exhibition was attended by more than 30.000 visitors.

The Hellenic Health Tourism Forum hosted representatives of medical and wellness centers, leading hotel units and water therapy and spa centers in Greece.

The GNTO presented the thermal springs and the possibilities of the spa resorts and thermal complexes of Greece and stressed the options offered for the restoration of the Russian cosmonauts,.

During the event, the Ambassador of Greece in Moscow, Mrs. Catherine Nasika informed Russian travelers planning to visit Greece for medical reasons that wherever they choose to visit, “the sea is always close”, ready to welcome them.

“We organise our holidays to have a good time and to be healthy. This does not always require medical intervention. Sometimes, a special treatment, a beautiful landscape, a clean atmosphere and a healthy diet are enough.”

Participating in MedTravelExpo allows a business/organisation to:
