George Dalara’s Concert in Moscow (VIDEO)

The concert of George Dalaras for Greece drew excellent reviews and extensive publicity.

More than 40 articles in the written and electronic press of Russia have been published so far for the Concert of George Dalaras in Moscow, the first major event in Greece to celebrate the Year of Tourism Greece-Russia. During the concert that took place in the Concert Hall of the Patriarchal Church of the Savior, George Dalaras captivated an audience of about 1500 people which consisted of Russian Government Officers, tour operators, travel agents, representatives of 16 Russian cities and expatriates. Also present, heads of organisations of the Russian Federation and Greece, representatives of the Church of Greece, agents of the economic and tourism industry, as well as representatives of the Russian media, journalists and foreign correspondents.

Minister of Tourism Mrs. Elena Kountoura welcomed the event – which was initiated by the ministry – and stressed that the Year of Greek-Russian Tourism has begun, a great celebration for both countries, marking the beginning of a series of top festivities and joint activities.

The main sponsors of the concert were: Aegean Airlines, the Mouzenidis group and supporters were the Hotel Owners Association of Rhodes and Rodos Palace.

It is emphasised that the concert was widely covered by the largest media in Russia. Indicative of the impact of the event on the Russian public is the praise of one of the most renowned Russian critics, Mr. Vadim Ponomariov, who described the concert as “the appearance of a great maitre, an act of high art”, expressing the hope that new similar collaborations will emerge in Russia soon.

In an event that followed at the Greek Embassy in Moscow for the Year of Greek-Russian Tourism, Mr. Dalaras thanked the Ministry of Tourism and GNTO for the initiative and support.

The Greek artist was congratulated for his excellent performance by the Deputy Minister of Culture responsible for tourism, Ms. Alla Manilova, who attended the event. Representatives of Russian tourism also praised the contribution of high-level organisations to highlight the traditional and modern culture of Greece to Russia and the Russian public.
