Greece at the Heart of British Tourists’ Interest

The strong interest of the British public in Greece was reflected in the massive participation of leading travel agents and tour operators at the “Greek Tourism Workshop” held in Manchester on Monday, April 28, 2025.

The event aimed to cover the market of Central and Northern Great Britain, regions with significant potential to enhance tourist flows to our country.

The British market, a traditionally strong supporter of Greek tourism, is emerging as a key driver of growth for Greece’s tourism industry, with 2025 expected to be particularly promising. A remarkable increase in bookings from the United Kingdom is already being recorded, boosting optimism for the upcoming tourist season.

It is worth noting that the “Greek Tourism Workshop” in Manchester was held under the auspices of the Ministry of Tourism, the Ministry of Rural Development and Food, the Embassy of Greece in London, and the Consulate General of Greece in Manchester.

The event was honored by the presence and welcome addresses of the Consul General of Greece in Manchester, Mr. Alexandros Ioannidis, and the Head of the Greek National Tourism Organization (GNTO) UK & Ireland Office, Ms. Eleni Skarveli, while also in attendance was the Deputy Head of the GNTO UK & Ireland Office, Ms. Angela Tzifa.

The first part of the event included one-on-one business (B2B) meetings between Greek destinations and tourism enterprises with participating British travel agents and tour operators. These were followed by presentations of Greek destinations and companies, aimed at further enhancing their visibility.

Specifically, presentations were delivered by Mr. Georgios Panagopoulos, Head of Tourism Promotion, on behalf of the honored Region of Eastern Macedonia and Thrace; Mr. Konstantinos Zervas, Marketing Manager of the Development Agency of the Region of Attica – New Metropolitan Attica S.A.; Ms. Elisavet Siaridou, representative of the Department of Tourism Promotion and Marketing, Directorate of Tourism, Region of Central Macedonia; Ms. Lena Stefanoudaki, Head of Business Support, Heraklion Chamber of Commerce.; and Mr. Kyriakos Kotsoglou, Deputy Regional Governor responsible for Tourism, Region of Crete.
