France emerges as a top destination for Greece also in 2022

With great success ended its activities, the 2nd Greek Alternative Tourism & Gastronomy Workshop, which was organized by Tourism Media & Events, in Paris April 19.
Around 313 B2B meetings were conducted, 77 tourist agents from France, journalists and 14 companies and public operators participated, raising high expectations for incoming French travelers to Greece in 2022 The 2nd Greek Alternative Tourism & Gastronomy Workshop, was held under the auspices of the Ministry of Tourism, the Greek Embassy in Paris and the Union of Hellenic Chambers of Commerce.
Main sponsor of the event was the Greek National Tourism Organization. Honored destination is Region of Crete. The official Air Carrier Sponsor is Aegean Airlines.
At the Workshop also participated Region of Western Greece, Municipality of Karistos, Municipality of Chalki, Athens International Airport and the Rhodos Tourism Promotion Organization “PROTOUR”.
The event, which took place at «La Villa Mikuna», honored with his presence the representative of the department of Economic and Commercial affairs of the Greek embassy in Paris, Mr Vasilis Stelianidis.
Presentations were made by the head of Greek National Tourism Organization, in France, Mrs Dimitra Voziki, Region of Crete, counselor of Tourism and E-governance, Dr Kiriakos Kotsoglou, Head of Tourism Department Mr Nikos Alexakis, Mrs Maria Lavdaki from Tourism Department of Region of Lasithi and Mrs Ionna Papadopoulou, director of communication and marketing from Athens international Airport “Eleftherios Venizelos”.
The event ended with a raffle draw and around 25 gifts from Greek destinations and businesses were offered to the French travel agents giving them the opportunity to visit Greece and seal their collaborations with Greek participants.
Next events, organized by Tourism Media & Events, are going to take place live and focus on the promotion of Greek luxury tourism.

«NORDICS» landing in Greece

The first GREEK TOURISM & GASTRONOMY WORKSHOP for 2022, organized by Tourism Media & Events, will open its doors for the Scandinavian audience at 21-23 March.

The ‘’Greek –Nordic Alternative Tourism & Gastronomy Workshop”, which is adapted to the new reality, will take place online through a leading, specially designed digital platform, aims to introduce Greek tourism companies to 80-100 travel agencies from the four Nordic countries (Sweden-Denmark-Norway-Finland).

The Scandinavian market is one of the top for greek tourism, in terms of arrivals, as in 2021 the number of tourists from the Nordics had a remarkable increase compared to 2020. First in the list was Denmark. Danes prefer adventure tourism, they travel to live new experiences, relaxation and warm places. They, usually, choose to stay in, 3,4 and 5 stars, hotels or resorts. Their vacations last 5 or 6 weeks yearly and prices, security, climate are the most important factors to choose a destination.

The workshop is part of a course of Greek Tourism & Gastronomy Workshops events, organized by Tourism Media & Events towards the direction of enhancing alternative tourism in Greece.

The event which will be concluded on March 23, 2022 – after the completion of hundreds of B2B pre-arranged virtual meetings – follows a series of successful online events for alternative tourism, organized by Tourism Media & Events the period 2020-2021, in Belgium, Poland, United Kingdom, France and Germany.

The event takes place under the auspices of the Ministry of Tourism, the Ministry of Rural Development and Food, the Intercultural Group for UNESCO.

The ongoing pandemic of COVID-19 until spring, combined with the effects of the health crisis in the tourism sector, makes it necessary for this event to take place online.

The upcoming events, throughout 2022, will take place either live, or in combination with digital means, depending on the circumstances in every country and based on the latest developments and restrictions, resulting from the pandemic.

The next Greek Luxury Tourism & Gastronomy Workshop will take place at London March 31, 2022 and after that at Paris, April 2022.

As part of the promotion of Greek luxury and alternative tourism, expected to take place five “Greek Luxury Tourism & Gastronomy Workshops”, Russia April 7, Dubai May 11, Quatar May 18, Amsterdam in October and the States in November 2022.

The Greek Alternative & Luxury Tourism Workshops, are addressed to tourism companies and public bodies that are interested in promoting their services and products around luxury and alternative tourism.

100-120 local travel agents and 10-15 distinguished media participate from the touristic markets of each country, ensuring the maximum possible publicity of the event.

At the beginning of the online event in the Nordic market, a webinar will be held for all participants with presentations of alternative destinations and gastronomic products from Greece.

Giorgos Ntalaras festival, Moscow 2018

Shortly before the start of the summer season 2018 when 1 million Russians flood the unique destinations of Greece, the famous singer George Dalaras, excited 1,600 Muscovites who attended the historic concert in the Synod Hall of the Moscow Cathedral, next to the Kremlin, on March 13.

The big celebration of Greek-Russian friendship was organized by the Ministry of Tourism and GNTO in the framework of the Moscow International Tourism Exhibition MITT 2018 and was the inaugural artistic event of the Year of Tourism Greece-Russia.

The Year of Tourism Greece-Russia is an initiative of the Minister of Tourism, Mrs. Elena Kountoura, who, in collaboration with the Russian counterpart Mrs. Alla Manilova, proceeded to the restoration of the historical relations of the two peoples through tourism and also the general recovery of the tourist flow from Russia, which had been hit by the Ukrainian crisis and the European embargo on Russia.

Accompanied by a multi-member orchestra and a total of 17 performers, George Dalaras advertised Greek music in the best way possible and excited the audience. It is characteristic that by the end of the concert the audience was dancing in front of the stage and around the square, a rare occurrence for similar concerts in Russia.

Among the guests were hundreds of Russian and Greek tourism agents, executives, directors and owners of travel agencies and companies specialising in tourism to Greece, numerous foreign ambassadors, Russian citizens and expatriates, who are also Greek nationals and the best ambassadors of the country.

Mr. Pavel Ofsyanikov, Russia’s top conductor and head of the Kremlin’s Symphony Orchestra for many years, praised Tourism Minister Mrs. Elena Kountoura for her initiative to introduce Greek music to the Russian public, as the event highlighted. “A top cultural event, a legacy for similar concerts”, he proclaimed.

 

The reaction of the popular Russian music critic Mr. Vadim Ponomariov through social media was similar; he praised not only the professionalism and the “improvised fountain” of Greek musicians, who turned the audience into a choir, but also described the concert as “the emergence of a great meter, an act of high art”, expressing the hope that new Greek concerts will soon emerge in Russia.

More than 1,500 spectators attended George Dalaras’ concert in Moscow, including hundreds of Russian and Greek tourism officials, executives, directors and owners of travel agencies and organisations, numerous foreign ambassadors, Russian government and government officials, and Russian officials.

The concert for Greece – in the Synod Hall of the Moscow Cathedral, next to the Kremlin, was organised by the Ministry of Tourism of Greece and GNTO; it was the solemn celebration of the Year of Tourism Greece-Russia.

Russian media and social networks were “flooded” with references to the concert, Greek culture and Greek-Russian friendship, at the ideal time, shortly before the start of the tourist season. There were more than 70 reports in the Russian press. The music figures of the Russian capital continues to discuss the unique and now historic concert of the leading Greek singer.

The event, on the occasion of Greek tourism, turned into a “top cultural event, a legacy of similar concerts sought by the Russian public,” according to a statement from Mr. Pavel Ofsyanikov, Russia’s top conductor for many years. The Kremlin Symphony Orchestra, which has repeatedly collaborated with G. Dalaras in the past.

The praise for the top event of the Greek-Russian tourism year was numerous on Russian media and social networks. Among them, the opinion of the greatest Russian music critic Mr. Vadim Ponomariov, who praised the professionalism and the “improvisation fountain” of Greek musicians, who turned the audience of the hall into a choir. She described the concert as “the appearance of a great metro, a high art act”, expressing hope that new collaborations between G. Dalaras and her symphony orchestras would soon emerge in Russia, as well as more concerts by Greek performers in front of the Russian public, thirsty for Greek music.

Among the guests, who finally got up and started dancing in front of the stage and around the theater square, a fact unprecedented for the musical history of the Russian capital, were also Russian government officials, governors, representatives of the Greek Church and Foreign Ministry correspondents, while the event was welcomed by the Minister of Tourism Mrs. Elena Kountoura and the Ambassador of Greece to Moscow Mr. Andreas Phryganas.

The reappearance of George Dalaras with a multi-member format in a highly symbolic music scene in Moscow and even after eighteen whole years, organized by the Ministry of Tourism and the Hellenic Tourism Organization, was made possible thanks to the sponsorships of Aegean Airlines, Travel Group Mouzidis , the Rhodes Hoteliers Association and the Rodos Palace.

1st Greek Alternative Tourism Workshop – Poland

AVIAREPS, in a strategic partnership with Tourism Media & Events, is organising the 1st Greek Alternative Tourism Workshop in Warsaw, Poland on October 29, 2019. The Workshop will take place at the emblematic FortecaKregliccy – Fortress of the Legions.

With an aim to highlight the full range of Alternative Tourism Forms in Greece, the 1st Greek Alternative Tourism Workshop Warsaw 2019 follows the state plans for:

The 1st Greek Alternative Tourism Workshop in Warsaw, Poland, takes place in collaboration with the Hellenic Tourism Organization (GNTO), under the auspices of the Ministry of Tourism, the Greek Embassy in Poland, the Hellenic-Polish Chamber of Commerce and Investment and the Hellenic Cultural and Educational Group for UNESCO.

The Workshop

During the 1st Greek Alternative Tourism Workshop Warsaw 2019, B2B meetings will be held for 3-4 hours.

A specialized PR company has selected and invited tourist organizations and travel agencies that deal specifically with alternative forms of tourism, Polish market distributors and representatives of Polish Media.

The screens will be showing the GNTO spots of the participating Regions in a loop. Coffee and snacks will also be offered.

There will be dinneroffered at FortecaKregliccy and on a specially designed podium, there will be presentations of the Greek destinations and the alternative tourism activities they offere.

The Polish market

The choice of the Polish market as the second step in the promotion of Greece in foreign markets is not accidental.

The specific dynamics of the country in terms of interest of the Polish people for the alternative Greek tourist product was taken into account along with the expressed desire of a significant number of Greek companies to penetrate this market.

Now the Polish market is among the top markets for tourists visiting Greece and the Poles are looking for a complete experience of travel, authenticity, connection with nature and action.

Outdoor activities at sea, mountains and rivers, culture, gastronomy, wine tourism, spa and wellness, seaside resorts, small facilities and family-friendly accommodation are on the top of the Polish travel list.

Polish tourists are known to be lovers of alternative tourism, especially winter sports. They travel all year round, with their average annual income exceeding ours.

Greece is ranked first in the travel preferences of Poles in 2019, following a large increase of 40% in the arrivals of Polish tourists in our country in 2018.

Last year, Polish visitors in our country exceeded 1 million for the first time and reached 1.049.500.

With the participation of 97 Polish tourist agents and tour operators and 12 journalists, the 1st Greek Alternative Tourism Workshop Warsaw 2019 was organised by Tourism Media & Events in collaboration with the Hellenic Tourism Organisation, under the auspices of the Ministry of Tourism, Greek Embassy in Poland, the Hellenic-Polish Chamber of Commerce and Investment, as well as the Hellenic Cultural and Educational Group for UNESCO.

The event took place in Warsaw’s iconic Forteca Kregliccy on October 29, 2019, with the participation of 18 leading companies, organisations and destinations which have activities in the field of alternative tourism in Greece.

during the 1st Greek Alternative Tourism Workshop Warsaw 2019, the Greek Ambassador to Warsaw, Mr. Michalis Daratzikis, addressed the crowd with a speech, while the B2B meetings were initiated by the GNTO Director in Poland and the Czech Republic, Mrs Nikoleta Nikolopoulou.

The Greek ambassador, among other things, underlined the strong ties between the two countries.

At the same time, Mr. Daratzikis welcomed the increase of tourist flow from Poland to Greece, adding that tens of thousands of Greeks are now visiting Poland for tourism as well.

The director of GNTO noted that Greece is a good choice for holidays all year round, since in addition to the good climate and unparalleled beauty, with possibilities of dozens of alternative activities, the country stands out for its unique gastronomy as well.

Greek destinations such as Volos and Halkidiki as well as Aegean Airlines had their own presentations during the event.

As captured in the 1st Greek Alternative Tourism Workshop Warsaw 2019, Greece is one of the world’s paradises of alternative Tourism with high quality Geoparks, ski resorts, hundreds of international hiking routes, dozens of rivers and streams.

At the same time, Greece has various diving tourism units, perhaps the world’s top climbing tracks and top Golf Courses, with Costa Navarino in the Peloponnese.
